Meet the Designer & Maker
Hello, my name is Giulia Mio, and I am the owner of Giulia Mio Millinery.
My creative path began in set and costume design after I studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice and Milan. While working on my Master's, I discovered a passion for millinery and chose to focus on this incredible craft, learning traditional techniques in Rome, Milan, and Zurich.
After moving to the UK in 2013, I wanted to grow my skills further. I chose top tutors to learn from and focused on both traditional couture millinery techniques and creative ways to use modern materials, blending heritage with new ideas.
My style reflects my love for fashion, fine arts, theatre, and a close connection to nature. These influences guide my creative process and mix with my passion for the unexpected and unusual.
A Distinctive Approach to Bespoke Millinery
I design each hat or headpiece as a unique collaboration with my clients.
Instead of just adapting or repeating existing styles, I create one-of-a-kind pieces that suit the wearer, their features, their style, and the occasion. I mix traditional couture techniques with new materials and modern methods.
This way, each piece feels both classic and fresh. The result is millinery that is expressive, refined, and truly unique.
Inside the Studio
My studio is in Leicester's Maker's Yard, at the heart of the Cultural Quarter.
Studio 6 is a creative space I share with a small group of talented makers and artisans. Together, we have created a welcoming and inspiring environment, buzzing with positive energy and female camaraderie.
Clients are always welcome at the studio, whether they want to pick from my ready-to-wear pieces or order a custom design made just for them.
